WINDRUNNER High Efficiency Ø11m/25kW Professional Wind Turbine
Warning : Wind Runner is currently in development and will be ready for release by end 2008 following thorough testing in Orkney. Pictures soon available. WindRunner WT is a 11m rotor, 25 kW continuous output small utility-scale wind generator capable of powering small remote communities, housing complexes factories, farms, sea water desalination and more. One advantage of a wind runner over large wind turbines for wind farms applications is the ability to deploy wind runners in any remote locations even in tropical conditions in its tilt version.
WindRunner's technology implements all necessary features to achieve the best possible energy yield out of wind, this especially in the prevalent low and medium wind speed conditions. High efficiency direct drive generator and true variable speed operation with maximal power point tracking result in an increased production of at least +75% compared to conventional wind turbines. The direct drive generator also reduces the amount of critical mechanical components, ensuring high reliability and low maintenance. The variable speed management and feathered pitch control fixture drastically reduces material stress for increased lifetime and particularly quiet operation. The wind turbine is connected to the AC grid through a specific AC/DC/AC PWM inverter delivering best quality power. Last but not least, WindRunner WT is designed and realized without compromise, using state of the art components and according to IEC 61400-2 design rules (class II maximum wind speed). An exclusive range of various dedicated power electronics allow to respond to a wide range of applications, like : -stand-alone AC distribution -island AC grid (micro grid) -utility grid feeding WindRunner dedicated Power Electronics : (click to download data sheet)
